About Hans van Bentem

Hans van Bentem is a Dutch visual artist who graduated in 1988 from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. His work ranges from monumental sculptures to installations and objects in glass and light, using classical materials and traditional techniques to tell contemporary stories.

We have been working together since the early 2000s, when Hans began collaborating with the wood workshop in Senegal where our wooden objects are made. His practice is driven by a deep respect for craftsmanship and cultural tradition. As he puts it: “I use traditional materials and techniques to give shape to contemporary stories.”
