At POLSPOTTEN, we celebrate craftsmanship, character, and sculptural expression. Our collaboration with Hans van Bentem combines traditional artisan techniques with a contemporary design vision. The result is a collection of wooden objects that bring warmth, strength, and story into the home.

About Hans van Bentem

Hans van Bentem is a Dutch visual artist who graduated in 1988 from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. His work ranges from monumental sculptures to installations and objects in glass and light, using classical materials and traditional techniques to tell contemporary stories.

We have been working together since the early 2000s, when Hans began collaborating with the wood workshop in Senegal where our wooden objects are made. His practice is driven by a deep respect for craftsmanship and cultural tradition. As he puts it:
"I use traditional materials and techniques to give shape to contemporary stories."

A Collection Driven by Craftsmanship and Character

In collaboration with Hans van Bentem, POLSPOTTEN presents a collection of wooden objects where craftsmanship, character, and sculptural strength come together. Since 2000, Van Bentem has worked closely with artisans in Senegal, drawing inspiration from traditional carving techniques and the natural beauty of wood. Each piece is handcrafted and bears the marks of tools, time, and origin. Monumental sculptural language is translated into functional objects with soul – warm, distinctive, and made to last.
