Pascal Smelik is a Dutch artist and designer who graduated cum laude in 2009 from The School of Arts in Utrecht. His candlewax series 'Kaarsrecht' was nominated for the Piet Bakker Award and the Talent 2009 Design Awards.

Our collaboration with Pascal grew from a shared fascination with material behaviour and transformation. His work explores how form emerges through process, tension and chance, embracing distortion and imperfection as essential elements of design. For Pascal, this means that “processes that escape control - organic growth, distortion and subtle shifts - are where form truly begins.”
